Thank you for sharing this message. I have one sister. I was the skinny kid. She was the chubby one. We both ate what my mother cooked for us. Then, I also had two daughters and a son. One daughter turned chubby at age 2. The other two remained thin until my second daughter gained weight as a teenager. My son has never had a problem with weight although he can out-eat both of my daughters.

A pediatrician once sent me to a nutritionist for my chubby daughter. The nutritionist, without asking any questions, began scolding me for her diet. When I explained that I had three children and only this one was chubby, that I did not feed them differently, she was puzzled. I can't know for sure but I do believe that my sister's chubbiness and my daughter's chubbiness were likely due to chemical imbalances as well as a difference in their gut microbiome. Keep telling the story and redeeming us from the ignorance that calories alone cause fat. Bravo!
