Why Quality Needs to Be a Focus in Your Business

It’s the last thought of entrepreneurs but critical to business success. We rarely think about it, but it goes to the heart of what is needed for a business to succeed. What is it? It is QUALITY.

the standard of something as measured against other things of a similar kind; the degree of excellence of something.

What I would like you to focus on is “the degree of excellence.” Excellence is not something that entrepreneurs commonly speak about as they build their businesses. We talk about meeting stakeholder needs but rarely talk about the quality aspect of our product or service and how it meets the customer's needs.

Exceeding customer expectations takes intention. It is easy to be seduced away from a focus on customer expectations. We think of ways to improve our product and service based on the current state of those products and services. “How can we make it better?” is usually the question that entrepreneurs and business owners ask themselves.

A better question is, “How can we make this better FOR THE CUSTOMER?” Although this question may seem similar to the first one, it is different in one particular aspect. The second question…
