Embracing Your Imperfections
Lately, I have found myself doling out advice that I would have given my younger self. I don’t do it from a self-righteous place, wagging my finger and telling others, “what you should do is…” I have humbled by the randomness of life too many times to go on that kind of rant. What I am about to tell you is what I wish I had known when I was younger mixed in with some wisdom that helped me navigate the situation at the time.
“Life is difficult.” These three words, penned by M. Scott Peck, changed my life at the time. Although I had been consistently told things like “Life is not easy” and “Life is not a bed of roses,” my understanding of those phrases was incomplete. I found myself questioning, “Is life supposed to be this hard?” That is when I picked up M. Scott Peck’s book and stumbled upon that phrase. It was like someone had punched me in the gut.
