Great article. We are swimming in information and a sea of personal opinions. What is lacking is a rigor of thought and the collective wisdom of the ages. Speaking of lean, I keep going back to Deming's 14 Points. He summarized so much of what was wrong in the Industrial Era corporations. You are absolutely right about one thing: humans don't follow pathways of logic and what "makes sense."
