Every few months, a new wave of fear hits the headlines.
“AI will take your job.”
“AI will rewrite society.”
“AI will outsmart humanity.”

It’s an easy narrative to sell — because fear sells. But fear also distracts.
The real danger to our future isn’t artificial intelligence.
It’s artificial confidence — that quiet comfort that says we’ll figure it out later.

That’s complacency. And it’s the most underestimated risk facing leaders today.

The Mirage of “Later”

In too many boardrooms, innovation conversations start with enthusiasm and end with deferral.

“We’ll wait until the technology matures.”
“We’ll hire someone next year to handle that.”
“We’ll see what others are doing first.”

But “later” is a moving target.

By the time you’re ready to act, the landscape has already shifted.

The organizations thriving right now aren’t the ones with the biggest budgets. They’re the ones who decided to get curious sooner.
